Seven
Stories Institute
is a response to the realization that many good books
that pose alternatives to current governmental policies and attitudes circulate
largely within academic circles but never reach those most adversely affected
by the policies those books discuss. SSI seeks to reverse that failure. We collaborate
with grassroots organizations and public high schools to bring seminal books
that both explore those policies and alternative visions for the future to communities
that do not have access to them. We organize forums with the authors of these
books as we seek to stimulate discussion of important policy issues within those
communities who have the most to lose in the current political crisis but have
the least access to the terms of the debate. We offer the books at deeply subsidized
prices, or in special circumstances for free, to participants in the events.
As an integral part of our mission, we seek to promote literacy
and spread the love of ideas, imagination
and the written word. We are interested in forming
on-going relationships with the organizations with which we work. For more information
